- AESIR: Affordable Energy Storage for Intermittent Renewables
A prototype domestic scale redox flow battery using abundant (non-vanadium) chemistries (eg. manganese and iron) will be developed in the AESIR project. This has the potential to reduce the need for non-abundant metals that are currently being used in redox flow battery technology; with associated cost reductions required over the current market leader.
